Working Principle of Baghouse Dust Collector

A baghouse dust collector is a high-efficiency dust removal equipment that separates dust from dust-laden gas by filtration. It is widely used for dust control in mining, building materials, chemical industry, grain processing and other industries. Its core working principle is a filtration and ash cleaning cycle. The overall structure mainly consists of cabinet body, filter bags, tube sheet, ash cleaning device, air inlet & outlet and ash hopper.

During operation, dust-laden gas enters the lower ash hopper or middle cabinet of the collector through the air inlet, and flows upward under the negative pressure of the fan. When the dusty gas passes through the filter bags, an initial dust layer forms on the surface of the bags. By means of interception, inertial collision, diffusion and adsorption of the filter material, dust particles are trapped on the outer side of the filter bags. Clean air penetrates the fiber gaps of the filter bags into the internal clean air chamber, and is then discharged from the air outlet to complete the primary dust removal.

As the operating time increases, the dust accumulated on the outer surface of filter bags keeps thickening, and the operating resistance of the equipment rises continuously. Without timely cleaning, the ventilation and dust removal efficiency will be affected. At this moment, the ash cleaning system starts. Pulse jet cleaning is the most commonly used method. Compressed air in the high-pressure air bag is jetted into the filter bags instantly at high speed through the jet pipe, making the filter bags expand and vibrate rapidly, generating reverse airflow to shake off the dust layer attached to the surface.

The fallen dust settles down into the lower ash hopper under gravity, and is discharged regularly through the ash discharge valve to realize dust collection and treatment. The ash cleaning process is usually automatically controlled by time or resistance setting, and can operate cyclically without shutdown, ensuring continuous and stable operation of the equipment.

The baghouse dust collector features extremely high collection efficiency for fine dust, which can effectively control dust emission concentration. With simple structure and convenient maintenance, it adapts to working conditions of dust with different concentrations and properties. It is the key equipment to control flying dust and meet environmental emission standards in industrial production.
